Giving our children a “Chance for Life”

Thank you for your interest in giving all children a Chance for Life. We are proud to fund research that drives new, innovative treatments for Pediatric Cancers especially in the area of pediatric neuro-oncology. The 2021 Chance for Life LOI process will begin accepting applications on September 28 for an LOI submission period between September 28 and February 5, 2021

Chance for Life (CFL) welcomes proposals from researchers within the United States of America working on pediatric cancer initiatives.

Requests up to $150,000 will be considered.

In past funding rounds, CFL has funded projects that have focused on the following:

 

  1. The basis of tumor initiation and progression
  2. Novel therapeutic approaches
  3. Development of novel biomarkers or methodologies to predict disease progression and to enhance efforts in primary and secondary prevention and intervention
  4. Novel models that would enhance pre-clinical research
  5. Development of more effective, less-invasive and/or less toxic treatments to improve long-term health and quality of life.

 

The CFL application process will take place in two phases:

Phase 1 - Submission of Letters of Interest (LOI)

Phase 2: Submission of Full Application upon invitation.

 

CFL is currently accepting LOI’s for a funding period between July 1, 2021 and December 31, 2022.

The 2021 funding opportunity will primarily support pediatric oncology research initiatives over a 12 or 18-month timeframe.

Key Funding Notes:

CFL encourages collaborative, multi-disciplinary, multi-institutional research with efforts to achieve insight and innovation with the following priorities:

  • Traditionally, CFL has funded on pediatric neuro-oncology research initiatives, however, CFL is extending the focus to include proposals addressing pediatric osteosarcomas during the 2021 funding cycle.
  • Focused, outcome oriented and innovative pediatric cancer research initiatives are preferred.
  • Funding will be allocated to research activities taking place in the United States of America.
  • CFL welcomes the opportunity to be the sole source of funding.
