Brooke Oberwetter is the Head of External Affairs for Amazon, where she leads regional engagement with the community around Amazon’s second headquarters in Arlington. As Amazon’s primary liaison to local community, her work at Amazon includes outreach to area non-profits, small businesses, community groups, and civic associations and ensuring that Amazon is a strong local partner to its neighbors at its new home in Arlington.

Prior to joining Amazon in 2019, Brooke spent nearly a decade on the U.S. Public Policy team at Facebook, Inc. During her time there, Brooke initiated and oversaw the development of Facebook’s Small Business programming, ran Facebook’s online safety roadshow program, and built the company’s first External Affairs program for policy engagement with think tanks and policy advocacy organizations. Her last role with the company was in overseeing strategy and operations for the U.S. Public Policy team, including the congressional, executive branch, state and local, and external affairs policy teams.

Before joining Facebook, Brooke’s background was in public policy think tanks. In addition to serving on the board of Chance for Life, Brooke has served on the boards of the Texas State Society, Global Women’s Innovation Network (GlobalWIN), and America’s Future Foundation. She holds a B.A. in Political Science from Denison University in Granville, OH, and attended American University in Washington, DC, for graduate school. She lives in Arlington, VA, with her husband and three sons, Nolan, Malcolm, and Fletcher.
