Shooting with Chefs began in 2013 when four friends sought to create a networking event where top level executives in the hospitality industry could get together, eat some great food, fire some great weapons, then smoke cigars while having a bourbon by the fire pit. Together, Jason Wilt of Winmar Construction, David Smelson of Pleasures of the Table and Micros, Billy Rothwell of Capital Bank and Scott Mendelson of EDGE Commercial Real Estate decided to use the event as a way to raise money for cancer charities. Since 2013, Shooting with Chefs has raised over $300,000 to date in partnership with various charities that benefit children.

will host the 7th annual Shooting with Chefs event to benefit Chance for Life

Chance for Life was founded in 2005 by RedPeg CEO, Brad Nierenberg, in honor of his goddaughter, Kennedy Snyder. At the age of two, Kennedy was diagnosed with an aggressive spinal cord tumor. Desperate to help, Brad and RedPeg set out to do what they knew best — create a memorable experience that would drive action in their hometown. To ensure standout in a city saturated with causes and galas, Chance for Life was designed to be different — a part-charity, part concert, part-gourmet food tasting event. What started off as poker evening for 20 people held in a Georgetown home, has since transformed into a 2,000 person, annual District-wide celebration of life, in its 14th year.

So What Else strengthens our communities through innovative and enriching youth programming in under-served communities, through out the Baltimore -Washington metropolitan region. We believe that every child should have access to safe learning environments both after school and during the summer season. Our diverse set of educational and recreational experiences position young people to make sound life choices and realize their full potential. All of our programming is free of cost to students, families and host sites.
