Chance for Life began 15 years ago as an event that has since transformed into its own nonprofit foundation, working to raise awareness and funds in support of pediatric cancer research. At the heart of this foundation is its signature charity event, the Chance for Life gala.

The Chance for Life (CFL) gala is DC’s premier charity event experience — featuring a Texas Hold’Em amateur poker tournament, celebrity chef tasting, and Vegas-themed after party. Founded in 2005, the CFL gala was initially created to save the life of Kennedy Snyder, who was diagnosed with an aggressive spinal cord tumor at just two years old. Fast forward 15 years, this charity event has grown from an intimate poker fundraiser for 20 people to an annual celebration of life for 2,000+ guests. To date, Chance for Life has raised $6.5MM since its genesis, and we are proud to donate 100% of net proceeds to support clinical trials and research at Children’s National Health System and Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation.

OUR FOUNDERS

Brad and Callie Nierenberg

Since its genesis in 2005, Chance for Life with the help of proud sponsors and supporters has raised over $6.5MM to support clinical trials at Children’s National Hospital System and Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation. As our Founder and Chairman, Brad Nierenberg and his wife, Callie Nierenberg have been essential in making Chance for Life the best event in DC.

Each year, Callie takes the lead on designing the experiences at the event and bringing new supporters to the organization through hosting educational events and lunches for community leaders.
